Wine Grapes Presale Reservation: Tempranillo

Wine grape preorders are accepted from now through August 3, 2018.

Tempranillo is a black grape variety widely grown to make full-bodied red wines in its native Spain.  Its name is the diminutive of the Spanish temprano ("early"), a reference to the fact that it ripens several weeks earlier than most Spanish red grapes. Tempranillo has been grown on the Iberian Peninsula since the time of Phoenician settlements. It is the main grape used in Rioja, and is often referred to as Spain's noble grape.

Broadway Brew Supply sources Tempranillo and other classic varieties sometime between mid-September and mid-October depending on growing conditions and numerous other factors.

If you are not familiar with making wine from grapes, don’t worry!  We’ll help you through the process by providing a step-by-step checklist when you pick up your grapes.  For more detailed information, check out these great wine making books to add to your library.

In general, 50 lbs of wine grapes will make approximately 3 gallons of finished wine, and 100 lbs will make approximately 6 gallons of finished wine.
