Wine Grapes Presale Reservation: Marquette

Wine grape preorders are accepted from now through August 3, 2018.

The Marquette grape is a cold hardy, red wine grape variety with excellent disease resistance. The Marquette grape’s high sugar and moderate acidity make it very manageable in the winery. Finished wines are complex, with attractive ruby color, pronounced tannins, and desirable notes of cherry, berry, black pepper, and spice on both nose and palate. As a red wine, Marquette represents a new standard in cold hardy viticulture and enology. Introduced in 2006, Marquette grapes are in high demand and short supply. Shelburn Vineyard’s 2010 Marquette wine won “Best of Show” red wine at the International Cold Climate Wine Competition held in Minnesota.

2017 Marquette Tasting Notes:

Dark Chocolate-covered cherries with notes of cinnamon and vanilla.  Big mouthfeel with slight residual sweetness on the finish.

Broadway Brew Supply sources Marquette and other cold hardy varieties sometime between mid-August and mid-September depending on growing conditions and numerous other factors.

If you are not familiar with making wine from grapes, don’t worry!  We’ll help you through the process by providing a step-by-step checklist when you pick up your grapes.  For more detailed information, check out these great wine making books to add to your library.

In general, 50 lbs of wine grapes will make approximately 3 gallons of finished wine, and 100 lbs will make approximately 6 gallons of finished wine.
